A couple more layouts!

I'm having so much fun with the ADSR!! :D Challenge 8 was to do a Scraplift of one of our Scrapbooking Idol's layouts!! :D I had to go searching for an idol, but I found one, and a great one!! :D

I ended up making two layouts, because the first one went in it's own direction in a major way and couldn't get the word dream to match the theme... Here they are! :D

I donated a nice bit of stuff for that, and the collab is going to be HUGE and GORGEOUS!! :D Also, I made almost a full kit (it's only missing an alpha) for the February Grab bag at Designs In Digital! My piece of the bag alone is worth what they'll be charging for it, and you'll get all the pieces by the other designers as well!! So, you should definitely consider getting that one! I also made something for the February Collab kit at Designs In Digital! It's a really cute kit, so be looking forward to that too!! :D

ADSR Continues!! :D

So, Challenge 4 is the altered art challenge this year! I was so super nervous, I actually posted in our thread that this was my first attempt, lol...

This is the most amazing quote! I try to remember it every day! I have to remind myself over and over that not only is this quote for my children, who I try to teach to live this way, but it is true for ME- the mom, the wife, the woman. I find it so easy to forget that we all have a responsibility to be as amazing as possible! This quote helps me remember so I can dust myself off and keep going!

**These are pictures of my daughter Rachel, who was 7 at the time, performing with the Fern Street Junior Circus in San Diego. Also, I really believe in this quote!! I thought it was part of the challenge to INSPIRE so I wanted to really say something positive with my page!

I made one of these for my daughter that says, "Never forget how it feels to fly," I think I'm going to get it printed and framed for her room!! :D

This is my first real attempt at a layout of this style. I feel like it really came together, lol... I really love how this turned out but I'm not sure if it is really my style. I don't think this is the kind of scrapper I am. But, it's nice to know that I can do it if I want to!! :D

It's funny because when I saw this layout in the gallery, I didn't think I wanted to redo it, and I had no clue how I was going to make it any better, because I always loved this Hammy layout. But, once I started playing with the pictures, I did find that there is a lot of new information I am able to apply to photos!! :D SO, I thought I would take some time here to talk about the new tricks I've used on this page that I didn't use on the last one... First off, I vignetted the photos so that Rachel's face would stand out more. I also edited the photos by increasing the saturation. These are two things that would not have dawned on me way back in the day, lol...

I also added a trim area to this layout, which is great and a very important thing I've learned to do so that I don't lose any of the main stuff when I have the page printed. The last really big thing I've done here that I never used to do is modify this template like a mad woman. I used to use the templates how they were, and would even go so far as to add a duplicate of a picture rather than alter the template. In this case, I added an additional picture, resized pictures, added things, took things away, moved the whole thing down, and so on.

Also, these days, if I find myself needing something, like an alpha to pull the title together, I will make it myself. I never used to feel confident doing that. I would search and search for what I was needing, whereas nowadays, I just make what I want and use it, lol...

So, I hope you like the new version more than the old version, which I'm finding very busy in not a great way. My husband and daughter both like the new version much better, and I do as well. When I started making it, I thought I was just doing it different, not better... But, in the end, I see that I was making it better, and I'm super glad I did!! :D

ADSR Bonus Challenge!

Here is my daily routine layout, lol!

My Daily routine involves so much craziness, I don't even really know where to start to describe it! I was going to tell you how I wrap party favors every day or that I take pictures of Rachel every day. I got out enough pictures of each to do either one of those topics! Then, I started thinking about some of the other things we might be doing any given day, like dying our hair and taking pictures of it, eating messy foods (with biological dads), watching for deliveries, making funny faces at one another, going to play rehearsals, playing with dogs, and driving all over town in my van. We wake up crazy and somewhat groggy, and get wilder from there! We have to pick what we are going to wear and change our clothes 3 to 5 times a day! We have Brian and Travis in and out of the house all the time! But, I guess if I really have to commit to one thing for our daily routine, it's just having fun together!!

The we in question would be ME, my daughter, Rachel, and my step daughter Ashley, with a side of my husband Christopher (who works too much but loves his job), and my 2 exes, lol... Ashley's dad Brian, and Rachel's dad Travis

ADSR Challenge 12!!

I have to say that this is much harder than scrapping my own memories... I always seem to know how I want it to look when I am scrapping my own things, and this one, I wanted to be perfect for my partner! I am so glad I don't have to give credits for all the things I tried and rejected on this one!!

A major accomplishment in my life...
I guess the first thing that comes to my mind would have to be my marriage and children.
I was rather rebellious as a teen and had decided at 15 that I would rather party than attend school, so I quit. I did manage to find a job even without my diploma, but when I became pregnant at age 17, I was scared and suffering from morning sickness, so once again... I quit.
I started dating my husband when I was 16 years old and he was 19. His mother was not happy about him dating me. She had told her sister that I was 'way too young' and would end up pregnant and he would be forced to marry me. Of course when I did become pregnant, it was all my fault, and after we told his mother of our plans to marry, the first thing I heard from his sister was his mother's comment that 'it will never last a year'. I could have easily taken another route, but it was time to prove to myself and everyone else that I could do something more with my life. So we decided to get married, and I was going to have this baby and be the best mother I could be. I was not going to quit!
I'm very proud to say that this year (2008) my husband and I will be married 30 years! We are the proud parents of 3 beautiful daughters and grandparents to 4 wonderful grandchildren, with number 5 due on our anniversary.
I may have been young, and I'm sure I wasn't the perfect mother, but I did the best I could and when I look at my daughters, I have to admit there is nothing I have accomplished in life that comes close to knowing I am responsible for bringing these wonderful people into the world.

I do have to say that I thought it was a drag that we ended the race on a challenge where only one partner scrapped. I think in the future they should make it so that for the last challenge, there are two layouts, just like most of the rest of the race. It would not have been very much more work for us to trade pictures and stories!! :D

ADSR Challenge 11!!

Journaling Reads:
One Day, Chris and I took you with us on a shopping trip to the Torrid! You had such a fun time playing with the only things in the store that would fit you- the accessories! You especially were enjoying these wings and showed us what a drama queen you could be by dressing up as a feathered, winged princess and posing in the light for a couple of pictures. We sure had a fun time that day! But, the fun didn’t end there! When your Grandma Debbi saw the pictures of you dressed up in those wings, she just had to get them for you! SO, that year for Halloween, you were a butterfly fairie, and just looked adorable! That was in 2004, and 4 years later, you still have these wings hanging in your closet waiting for the next time you feel the need to be a diva!

ADSR Challenge 10!!

Journaling Reads:
Where is my life heading and how do I feel about it? Right now, I feel like my life is heading into chaos. My beautiful baby girl is almost 13. I keep waiting for her to turn into a “teenager”. I know that could very well involve a lot of screaming, yelling, fighting, and growth. I believe it to be an important stage in the development of a young woman. Like a butterfly coming out of it’s cocoon, Rachel must come out of her childhood years and into her young woman years. I accept that in order for her to leave the cocoon of her childhood years, she will have to fight against the boundaries and constraints we have given her to keep her safe. But, I am also afraid of the turmoil it will cause in our home and my life specifically. To add to that, I want another baby very much. I have wanted to be a mother to more than one child for avery long time, and it hasn’t been meant to be. But, it may be time for that soon. What will happen? Will we have another child? Will we have more than one? What will happen if we don’t? Everything feels like it is going in a thousand different directions right now, but just like caterpillars that face a brand new life as Butterflies, I will be braver, stronger, smarter, and even more alive at the end of it all... Is it possible to have peace in chaos? I think that it is...

ADSR Challenge 9!!

Well, I don't know anything about Altered Art so I have no clue if this will qualify, which is why I am posting it nice and early in case I have to redo it... BUT, I love it, I love how it looks, I love the outer glow and the elements, I just adore how it all came together...

The journaling reads:
I made this dress for Rachel and she absolutely adored it! It was her favorite fancy dress and she would wear it to any occasion that we would let her wear it to. It was the perfect shades of green and cream to bring out her hair and her eyes! She looked like she had been born in the wrong era whenever she wore it! She was the only 8 year old we knew with their own hoop skirt and she knew how to wear it!

ADSR Challenge 8!!

This was a fun challenge, not too into the therapy, and not hard to do, just a little different... I'm not big on black and white photos usually, and I really had to punch it up with the wild colors in the papers to make up for the fact that I felt like the pictures were a little blah... Still, I think if you look closely at them and see what they are, you'll think they are pretty kewl!! :D



This was a super fun challenge!! It was fun looking through all my pictures to find ones that would still be high enough contrast to put them in black and white!!

Journaling Reads:
We were in Alaska and going whale watching! SO, of course Alaska drug out the craziest whales they could find just for us! We watched and worried as one whale tried to jump into a little dingy boat we could see barely held 10 people, let alone 10 people and a humpback whale! We watched a whale flip from side to side and wave at us for longer than any show at Sea World! I even got sprayed by one whale who just didn't believe that our boat wasn't really another whale in the water! It was so close to me, I couldn't even zoom my lens out far enough to get a picture of the whole thing, although I do think the detailed picture of the scratches on it's back is clear enough to give you an idea of how close that whale and I got to becoming intimate friends that day! Even the professional whale watching crew said they had never seen anything like it!

ADSR Challenge 7!!

I know it looks like I skipped on, but challenge 7 was a road block so only one person did the challenge!! Linda did it, you can see it on our race blog HERE!!

WOW!! This was a SUPER hard challenge, with a different challenge for each one of us on the team... It was hard, but so worth it in the end! I love how it turned out!!



I loved this challenge, it was SO HARD, but so awesome too!! I really enjoyed it! It is my first ever clean layout! And, I think it is only barely clean, lol... It was a super stretcher for me, I'm very excited to have been able to attempt it at all, let alone finish!

ADSR Challenge 5!!

Well, here's my layout for challenge 5, it wasn't doing for me like I wanted it to, I don't know why... I am making friends with my tablet though and used it to do the journaling in a very sloppy version of my own handwriting!



For this one, I just wanted to interview my computer and find out what she thinks of the other "folks" in her working environment!!
She says:
File Cab is kewl but she lives far so we don't get to talk that much, sniff.
HP is pretty ok but we aren't as close as we were before I met OKI.
That's me!
Bulletin Board thinks she knows everything and she hangs out with Norton, ICK...
OKI is my best friend, He Rules! MUAH
Bamboo is too new to be sure about yet!

But I should add that bamboo did help me make the journaling look just so, lol...

Dear NDISB,
Wow! I can't believe you are even still considering me since the competition is all so amazing! To answer your questions: I met OKI the same way every computer meets her printer- Someone plugged him into my network and we got friendly Bulletin Board is hard to like because she is just so informed on EVERY thing. She knows who everyone is, who sent what card or pic, and when all the bills are due. I have 3 hard drives with 469 GB of memory total, and I don't know half of that. I might be a little jealous. Bamboo is pretty happy here and I think we are all happy with what we've learned to use her for so far! I guess if I have to say why I deserve to win, it is because I work 16 hour days with a smile on my face and only take a break to restart on Tuesdays. And, I do only personal stuff on Sundays! I am a constant companion to my operator, offering support, music, and friendship for all of her home based business computing needs! ~SarahsFrontRig~

Whew!! I think this page is much better than the other one anyway! I used my ADSR prizes to create this page, Lucky O from Oscraps, and a template from Digital Scrapbooking Classes which I got with my gift certificate! I also stuck with a yellow notepad looking paper from JanniScrap Designs, and got the stitches to tie on my decorative tag from the July Mega Kit from Scrappin Freestyle. The white letter is a scan of notebook paper with my writing upon it.

Overall, I hope everyone will agree this page turned out much more beautiful than the other.

ADSR Challenge 4!!

I recolored one paper from Kim Crothers' Sour Grapes for this page. (used to be at PDP, but I can't find it for sale now... )

The goal of this page was to get something off your chest, to kind of rant it out. This poem was born of that for me, when I wrote it. I just had to get the bitterness and anger for my ex off my chest and focus on what was really important, which was how much I love my daughter.

This was a super awesome challenge, I thought... I've been wanting to make this page for a long time, ever since I started DigiScrappin, I knew I wanted to make a page like this, so I am STOKED to be able to now...

When I was in college, and Rachel was 2 and a half, almost 3, one of my teachers had a Valentine's Day poetry reading. I told her I was going to find a great poem about a parent's love for their child and read that. She said I should start writing because I was never going to find one. I spent many hours in the library proving her to be right, there just wasn't one to be found.

So, about an hour before the reading was to start, I sat down and wrote this. It was an amazingly healing moment for me, it really helped me to let go of anger and move on to the love I have for my daughter. It changed who I was as a person and as a parent. I am so grateful for that, because I immediately became a better mother, and more free as a person.

There’s a fetus in my stomach
It’s something very new

Thanks so much to you.

But, a fetus is a baby,
And a baby’s lots of work.
They take a lot of money
Because of their great worth.

ADSR Challenge 3!!

Here's my entry for Challenge 3!! Wow, this one was super hard. It isn't easy to create a page about yourself and write all over it!! It was tough to stay on track and not talk about other people instead of myself... But, I had a super fun time with it! By Friday of last week, I was sad there wasn't a challenge to get started on, it's a little scary because when the race is over, I'll have to go searching around for challenges, lol...

I miss my mommy who passed away two years ago. I drive a minivan and I love it! I’m shocked that I love it but I do. I met my husband when we were both in the fifth grade. My step-daughter from my first marriage lives with us!
I’m out of space on this page, I did it! I filled it up!! YAY!! Wow!!

ADSR Challenge 2!!

I think this was a super fun challenge! It was interesting to work together to create just one layout! Not only that, but I was actually surprised at how easy it was to just grab half the page already done, and add a complimentary opposite side!! It was truly an interesting experience!!

I have got to take some better pictures of these dogs, lol... I think they are super cute when they sleep and I can never get them to look adorable together when they are awake, lol...

We decided to work with at least mostly stuff we both have... SO, all of these papers are by Atomic Cupcake. The Staples are from Smudge by Kim Crothers @ Polka Dot Potato! I also used Sweet Belle Overlays by Kim B.!

ADSR Challenge 1!

I decided to join the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race!! I searched on all my candy wrapping forums for someone else who was into digital scrapbooking, and I found Linda, aka lsbird!! I was super excited to have her for a partner, especially since they won't let you join the race without a partner, LOL...

Anyhow, here's my first layout for the race!!



The challenge was to make a page about your favorite thing to scrap about. Make it at least half your favorite color, use the sketch provided, make it your own in some way, and use your favorite element 3 times over!!
My fave color is green, my fave scrap subject is Rachel, and my fave element is RIBBON!! :D
