How cute is that?? Ever since Rachel got braces, I've been dying to make a kit for kids with braces, so I've been working on it for a while and I really like how it's turning out so far!! It should be in the shop next Wednesday so keep an eye out for more layouts!!

My darling husband bought me a widescreen monitor, which I LOVE so much!! I couldn't help myself, I had to decorate it on the asap!! So, I made a desktop! Then, I made it squished for the full screeners among us! Click it if you want it!! They're free in the shop at Designs In Digital!! :D

Spunky Rachel, showing off a fresh n funky new hairdo! These photos have been treated with Vignette edges to make the subject stand out better! This is a redo of an older layout!! I'm really enjoying refreshing some of my earliest pages!! I really love the old versions because they are what got me started, but I love the look and feel of the pages I'm making now so much better! I remember making the page and wishing I could get a feel for how to make it better than it was. Now, I have that feel so I'm rescrapping some of my favorite pics of Rachel so her whole book will be amazing!! :D

Rachel's Miracle!

I think Rachel gets more than her share of miracles... But, I think part of that is because she cherishes the amazing things that happen to her so much!! Don't believe me?? Check out this page I made for the Word Art Challenge at DID!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Underneath it all, is a page from the add ons to my Being on Stage kit (coming soon to my blog), and the word art is by Nicolina! The rest is the magic of clipping masks and layer blending!

Little Angels and Funky Town!!

I did both of these pages for the Evitangel call! They were to promote the free kit she was giving away on her blog! Doesn't matter though, the kit is superb and the pages turned out so cute!! I will definitely use this page in Rachel's book, and Ashley loves her page too!! :D That's a cool thing about scrapbooking! Even when you don't get chosen, you still have super cute scrap pages to show for your effort!! :D

Journaling Reads:
At your school, they had a big western themed carnival each year! We had so much fun dressing you up in western clothes and hanging out with all your friends from school, especially Michael! He was such a good friend for you because he was just as tough as you were! YOU were VERY Tough! You were always tall and strong for your age so you had a tendency to knock the smaller kids down without meaning to. You and Michael would knock each other down, help each other up, dust each other off, and keep right on going! You guys were great friends and in the same class for 1st and 2nd grade! You still keep in touch with Michael all these years later!

Journaling Reads:
Well, it was that time again and we were dying your hair to a new shade of wonderful. Unfortunately, the shade on your head sure didn't match the shade on the box. You freaked out! It was so funny to see your reaction to having this crazy bright orange hair! You didn't waste any time in doing it again and before you went to bed, it was a "normal" color! But, we immortalized the orange hair in pictures forever!

Everything you see here is from Nathy's Little Heaven by Cinnamon Designs!

Doing Chores!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Journaling reads: There is really nothing like coming into the kitchen and finding your two girls hard at work doing the dishes together. It warms a mother's heart. And, sometimes if she happens to have a camera nearby and her daughters happen to get silly and start throwing water and bubbles all over the kitchen at each other, she can have a sense of humor about it and just snap some great pictures. Because at the end of it all, at least they're doing their chores!

Used:
Template from Magic By Amanda Lee (I'm sure she can only barely recognize it, I did a LOT of rotating, duplicating, and stuff to it, lol)
bubble brushes by Hawksmont
Everything else from Childsplay, which I got from NDISB's NSD scavenger hunt.

ADSR Challenge 11!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Journaling Reads:
One Day, Chris and I took you with us on a shopping trip to the Torrid! You had such a fun time playing with the only things in the store that would fit you- the accessories! You especially were enjoying these wings and showed us what a drama queen you could be by dressing up as a feathered, winged princess and posing in the light for a couple of pictures. We sure had a fun time that day! But, the fun didn’t end there! When your Grandma Debbi saw the pictures of you dressed up in those wings, she just had to get them for you! SO, that year for Halloween, you were a butterfly fairie, and just looked adorable! That was in 2004, and 4 years later, you still have these wings hanging in your closet waiting for the next time you feel the need to be a diva!

Products Used:
Template from Spunky by Amanda Lee
Lace paper from Sweetie Pie by Juliana Gordon
Follow Faith Paper from Scrap 4 Charity's Breast Cancer Awareness Set by Sara Ellis
Colored Denim Paper from Mandy Jo's Background Pack by Dan Morris Digital
Acrylic Styles by Thaty Borges
Pink Alpha from the Polka Dot Potato Potato Hunt Freebies by Shannon Lee Designs (I put a style on it)

ADSR Challenge 4!!

I recolored one paper from Kim Crothers' Sour Grapes for this page. (used to be at PDP, but I can't find it for sale now... )

The goal of this page was to get something off your chest, to kind of rant it out. This poem was born of that for me, when I wrote it. I just had to get the bitterness and anger for my ex off my chest and focus on what was really important, which was how much I love my daughter.

This was a super awesome challenge, I thought... I've been wanting to make this page for a long time, ever since I started DigiScrappin, I knew I wanted to make a page like this, so I am STOKED to be able to now...

When I was in college, and Rachel was 2 and a half, almost 3, one of my teachers had a Valentine's Day poetry reading. I told her I was going to find a great poem about a parent's love for their child and read that. She said I should start writing because I was never going to find one. I spent many hours in the library proving her to be right, there just wasn't one to be found.

So, about an hour before the reading was to start, I sat down and wrote this. It was an amazingly healing moment for me, it really helped me to let go of anger and move on to the love I have for my daughter. It changed who I was as a person and as a parent. I am so grateful for that, because I immediately became a better mother, and more free as a person.

Here's my page:

And, here is my poem in case you are interested:
Thanks So Much To You
by Sarah (Schlenz) Henderson, Feb 14, 1999

There’s a fetus in my stomach
It’s something very new
It’s been there for three months now,
Thanks so much to you.

But, a fetus is a baby,
And a baby’s lots of work.
They take a lot of money
Because of their great worth.
But, a baby is a child
A person all their own,
For moms and dads to fuss over
And see how much they’ve grown.

Do you think you’ll do the fussing?
Do you think you’ll spend your time?
From somewhere deep inside of me,
I know that I’ll spend mine.
I’ll walk and talk and coo,
And I’ll be loving all the time.

But, I can’t help but wonder,
What will happen in your mind?
Will you see her first steps and smile,
Beaming and boasting all the while?
Will you sacrifice all your plans
Just to make them up anew?
Will you change everything about yourself?
Will you?

Well, it’s three years later,
And I have my answers.
Her daddy’s just a picture,
Because you didn’t change your life, sir.

I thought I would be mad.
I thought I might be sad.
I never thought for one moment
That I’d be so glad!

You see, a baby is the best thing
To have with you everyday,
And a baby is the best one
To share with all your pay,
Because babies can return your love
With just a simple look,
And that’s something that I never got
From any poetry book.

Oh, I love my baby!
I love her all day long!
I love to watch her play and grow
And get so very strong.
I love having a baby
And not sharing her at all.
I love to see her smile each day
And catch her if she falls.
I love that when she’s hurting,
It’s me she wants to see.
I’d love for her to stay this way
For all eternity.

I love to kiss it better
And hold her if she cries.
I know this is the kind of love
That truly never dies!
So, I wanted to take this moment
Just to look at you and say
That what you gave was a true gift,
Even if you didn’t stay,
And in my life, I’m never really blue,
Because I have my Rachel,
Thanks so much to you.

ADSR Challenge 1!

I decided to join the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race!! I searched on all my candy wrapping forums for someone else who was into digital scrapbooking, and I found Linda, aka lsbird!! I was super excited to have her for a partner, especially since they won't let you join the race without a partner, LOL...

Anyhow, here's my first layout for the race!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The challenge was to make a page about your favorite thing to scrap about. Make it at least half your favorite color, use the sketch provided, make it your own in some way, and use your favorite element 3 times over!!
My fave color is green, my fave scrap subject is Rachel, and my fave element is RIBBON!! :D

Sketch is by Christy Haig.
Swirlie Frames by Athena/Studio Incognito at DigiScrapShak!
Turq Lacing from Dolly by Saskia Bokkers at Polka Dot Potato!

The rest is from my first collab kit ever, called Honor Your Mother and Father! Should be released soon! <-- I've been saying that for almost 6 months, LOL...

Spunky Rachel!

These pictures were taken the first day of 7th grade. The day before, Rachel had woken up requesting a MAJOR haircut, and being a good sport, I complied. She regretted it very soon there after, but I thought it was sure cute!!

Just Rachel

I took this picture at a wedding. I love how she looks in it... Had to make a peaceful but pretty page with it.

This is one picture I am planning on scrapping again. I love it so much, and now I have come to feel like those papers don't really match it. I think I just wanted to use the picture so much, I didn't care what kind of papers I put with it...

5th Grade Rachel

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

These pictures are from a day when I hung out with Rachel at her school! I took these shots on the playground of Rachel. I also shot the rest of her class and we made a kind of scrapbook for her teacher for the end of the year, with photos of all the kids, and letters to the teacher thanking him for all his hard work from each of the kids. It was pretty special!!
